When Helium Balloons Just Wont Float!
Share
In this business there are times when we collectively just want to cry! Chemistry was not our favourite subject at school however it would probably come in handy in explaining our latest drama. It all started well with a sizeable order from our new customer National Tiles. The good people at this iconic Victorian business requested that we spruce up a sales event at their Port Melbourne store. The brief included a colourful garland at the front of the store and over
100 hundred helium balloons in the same colours. We have inflated the balloons the night before and left them in storage (read garage) overnight. The temperature dropped close to 5 degrees and the storage temperature would have been a little warmer than that. After unpacking the balloons at the venue, we were shocked to see some of them barely floating. Naturally we are aware that helium contracts in the cold, however after trying to warm them up with all sorts of improvised methods, we had to accept, paraphrasing The Greatest that some of our balloons were only going to sting our egos like bees as opposed to float like butterflies! Next time, we will probably share our bed with these helium pups to keep them warm!
